The 2016 en primeur campaign kicks off tomorrow so we headed off to Lynch-Bages to limber up this morning. Judging by the number of Chinese flags fluttering from the flagpoles of estates en route, it looks like the Bordelaise are expecting a flood of guests from the PRC. Judging by the crowds at Lynch-Bages, they’ll not be disappointed.

Which could explain the choice of architects for the new winery Jean-Charles Cazes is building next year: Chien Chung Pei and Li Chung Pei sons of I.M. the Chinese American architect who build the glass pyramid at the Louvre which featured in The Da Vinci Code. Made with 666 panes of glass? When Suntory want to renovate their Chateau Lagrange next door, they know who to speak to as the estate was founded by the Knights Templar.
